Dublin Farmers' Market July 27th

Ly-Ly's will be at the Dublin Farmers' Market tomorrow!

The Sure Thing Sugar Cookies will be dressed up Dublin Market style. I did a special design inspired by the Dublin Market logo. After being away a few weeks I guess, well... I must have missed at the market more than I thought.

I kinda went a little nutty this week. I've got all kinds of new goodies to try out. How does this tasty line up grab you?

Thick and Chewy Granola Bars:  Packed full of all kinds of yummy stuff including Krema Peanut Butter.

Protein Cookie: Yup, that's right, Brown Rice Protein Powder, Raw Cocao Nibs, and Ghirardelli Bittersweet Chocolate 60% Cocao.

Whoop it up for Chocolate Whoopie Pies:
                            Who could resist this!

But wait, there's more...

I found some great local culinary lavender from Bear Naked Goods and couldn't help myself. I love the fragrance of lavender but  hadn't tried cooking with it. So next in line for new additions this week...

Mini Lavender Lemon Pound Cakes: These little cakes not only contain lavender but are also brushed with lavender syrup, complete with lemon glaze on top.

My son is hoping these don't sell so he can have them all to himself.

Of course I will always have the Best Big Fat Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies and I could never forget to bring the Chocolate Brownie Cookies that my own mother calls 'da bomb'!

Hope to see y'all at the market!

Dublin Farmers' Market June 29th

The Dublin Farmers' Market was fantastic yesterday!  The great weather brought lots of folks out to shop! I got to bring my two boys with me and it turned out to be a blast! They munched on cucumbers and cherry tomatos from VanScoy Farms, raspberries from Rhoads farms, beef sticks from Oink Moo Cluck Farms, chugged apple cider from Hirsch Fruit Farm...and of course cookies from Ly-Ly's! They were great little helpers! I think they actually enjoyed themselves too!

New to the market this week....Chocolate Brownie Cookie. This one is a keeper! Sold out in a heartbeat and was told they was the best chocolate cookie Ever!
Wow!
I'm lovin that!

Also...Oatmeal Cookies with Chocolate Chips, Raisins, and Macadamia Nuts.
Not too many pictures of those but...

Here they are 'live' from the market along with
Firecracker Sugar Cookies! POP!

Ly-Ly's will not be at the Dublin Market July 6th so...

Happy 4th of July to Everyone!

Strawberry Shortcake Cookie

Last week I ventured out to Old Hillard to check out the Hillard Farmer Market located downtown at the corner of Main and Center Streets. Old Hillard has a great small-town feel and a great market! If your around old Hillard you can catch them every Tuesday in June, July and August from 4-7:00. I bumped into some friends there-- the Hirsch Fruit Farm folks, Oink Moo Cluck, Blue Jacket Dairy, and Rhoads Farms. These are friends who can also be found, along with me, every Wednesday May and Sept, 4:30-6:30 and June, July, and August, 3:30-6:30 at the Dublin Farmer's Market in Historic Dublin.

I got some awesome fruits and veggies while there -- strawberries, raspberries, sugar snap peas, and beets. It all looked so beautiful and fresh...I should have taken a picture. The strawberries were especially beautiful and I felt inspired to incorporate them into a cookie. Here is the recipe I tried for Strawberry Shortcake Cookies. I did add a little more strawberries and cream than what the recipe called for.

One heaping cup of strawberries...

Organic Pure Cane Sugar and lemon juice...

Local amish butter cut into dry ingredients with a pastry cutter.
Local organic whole wheat flour, organic unbleached flour, aluminum-free baking powder, sea salt.

 Add cream...

then add the strawberries and drop dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment.

Sprinkle with sugar and bake until golden brown, 24 to 25 minutes.

 Eat!!! Mmmmmm...

With the left over cream I decided to make some whip cream to top them.

Organic cream and sugar... pure bourbon vanilla...  and a bit of the juice that was left at the bottom of the bowl of strawberry, sugar and lemon mixture...Whip it.
I love to try new recipes! If you've got one you'd like me to try just email me.
I'd love to hear from you!      heatherlylys@gmail.com
